Publish your presentation directly to a web site
You can make your presentation available to anyone
with an Internet browser when you use PowerPoint’s
Publish option. Publish allows you to send your online
presentation directly to a Web server that supports
the WebDAV standard, the FrontPage Server
Extensions, SharePoint Team Services, or Windows
SharePoint Services.
For example, instead of creating Single File Web
Pages or HTML pages for your presentation and then
using a Web site publishing or FTP program to
transfer the files to your Web server, you can use the
Publish option. Publish allows you to specify a target
server URL to which to publish, creates the necessary
files, and then moves them to the Web server for
you. This makes publishing to a Web server nearly as
easy as saving a document.
After the presentation has been published to the
Web server, it can be linked to any other Web page.
Viewers see the Outline, Notes, and Presentation
panes, and can easily navigate between slides.
1 Click the Office button.
2 Click Save As.
The Save As dialog box appears.
3 Use the Save as type list to click
either Single File Web Page or
Web Page.
4 Click Publish.
The Publish as Web
Page dialog box
appears.
5 Type the path to the
Web server and the
target file name in the
File name text box.
6 Click the Open
published Web page
in browser option
( changes to ).
7 Click Publish.
Note: You may receive a
prompt to enter a user
name and password in
order to access the site
PowerPoint publishes the presentation to
the Web server, and the browser opens
with the presentation loaded.
Caution!
You must have the proper
security and permissions
to access the Web server.
A prompt will ask you to
supply a valid user name
and password before
you can access the Web
server.
Important!
The path in Step 5 is a
combination of the Web site
address and the file name.
For example, if your Web site
address is www.myserver.
com, and the file name is
myppt.mht, the path you
would type is the following:
http://www.myserver.com/
myppt.mht.
Did You Know?
You can save the
presentation as an HTML
page instead of a Single File
Web Page. Follow Steps 1
and 2; in the Save As dialog
box, click the Save as type
list, and then click Web
Page. Proceed with Step 4
