Navigate a presentation in a browser
When viewing a presentation in a Web browser, you
can take advantage of the controls displayed by the
browser to navigate the presentation.
When you save a presentation for the Web, you can
view the resulting Single File Web Page file or HTML
Web Page file in a Web browser. The Web
presentation offers tools for moving from slide to
slide. In most cases, you get arrow buttons to move
forward and backward through the slides; you get an
Outline pane that enables you to jump to a slide by
clicking it; you can toggle the Outline pane on and
off; and you can expand and collapse the outline to
show more or less detail. You can also start and stop
narration and display the presentation in Full Screen
mode.
Whether you saved a presentation to your hard disk
or published it directly to a Web server, you should
view your Web presentation immediately to make
sure it looks and operates the way you want.
1 If you saved the presentation to
the hard disk, double-click the
HTM or MHT file in a folder
window on the Windows
desktop. Or, if you’ve already
published the presentation, open
your Web browser and navigate
to the address for the Web
presentation.
* Internet Explorer displays the
Information bar, which tells you
the program is not displaying the
ActiveX control that runs the
browser-based presentation.
2 Click the Information bar.
3 Click Allow Blocked Content.
The Security Warning dialog box
appears.
4 Click Yes.
The presentation
appears in the browser
window.
5 Click the Next Slide
arrow to move forward
one slide at a time.
6 Click the Previous
Slide arrow to move
backward one slide
at a time.
7 Click a slide title in
the Outline pane to
navigate to that slide.
8 Click Expand/Collapse Outline to show
more or less of the presentation outline.
9 Click Slide Show to display the
presentation in Full Screen Slide Show
format.
10 Click Outline to toggle the outline
on and off.
Did You Know?
When you click Slide Show, Internet
Explorer must load a different
ActiveX control to display the
presentation in Full Screen Slide
Show mode. By default, Internet
Explorer also blocks this control,
which means that you once again
see the Information bar. Click the
bar, click Allow Blocked Content,
and then click Yes.
Try This!
In the Full Screen Slide Show
mode, you navigate to the next
slide by clicking anywhere on the
screen. If you want to return to the
previous slide, right-click the screen
and then click Previous. To return
to the regular presentation viewing
mode, either right-click the screen
and then click End Show, or
press Esc.
